A seasonal farm-fiber experience combining sheep education, the journey from fleece to yarn, natural-inspired textile dyeing, and the timeless art of felting.
Spend an unhurried spring day at Piney Woods Farm surrounded by sheep, wool, color, and creativity. We’ll begin where fiber begins—with the animals and the land—before following wool through the traditional steps that transform a fleece into beautiful, usable fiber.
You’ll see washing, sorting, carding, and spinning in a concise fleece-to-yarn demonstration before moving from observation to making. Dye your own silk scarf, or tea towel, gather around the table for a seasonal farm lunch, and then settle in for an afternoon felting workshop where you’ll create a substantial project of your own.
During your day at the farm, you’ll:
- 🐑 Visit the sheep and learn about regenerative grazing, exploring the connection between healthy animals, healthy pasture, and beautiful farm-grown fiber
- 🧶 Follow wool from fleece to yarn through demonstrations of washing, sorting, carding, and spinning, with opportunities for hands-on participation
- 🌿 Explore textile dyeing and color, then dye your choice of a silk scarf, or tea towel
- 🪡 Spend the afternoon immersed in felting, creating a project such as a mini wallet, small felted bowl, or selected seasonal project
- 🥗 Gather around the table for a seasonal farm lunch, shared in good company

- 📸 Finish the day with a project display and photographs, celebrating what everyone created
